UPSL Announces Florida Expansion with Orlando Rovers FC

Orlando (Fla.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSLs Southeast Conference

December 23, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Orlando Rovers FC as a member kicking off with the 2020 Spring Season.

Based in Central Florida, Orlando Rovers FC is operated by its Board of Directors, and will begin UPSL play in the Southeast Conference Florida Central Division. The club will play its home games at Oviedo High School (601 King Street, Oviedo, FL 32765) in compliance with UPSL National Division standards.

United Premier Soccer League Florida Division Manager Christian Vallejos said, "We're excited to welcome Orlando Rovers FC to the Florida Central Division II. This is a club built on years of local experience, and they're ready to create something special of their own. It's a pleasure to have Eduardo Baccini and Simon Enright and their new group in the UPSL. Good luck to Orlando Rovers FC as the team kicks off in the Spring."

Orlando Rovers FC began in 2019, and will compete exclusively in the UPSL.

Eduardo Baccini is President of Orlando Rovers FC. A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Baccini last played in the Central Florida Soccer League (CFSL) before starting his own team and helping Sao Paulo FC create an expansion academy in Florida.

Simon Enright is Vice President and Head Coach. A native of England, Enright grew up in Norwich City Academy, playing for the Reserve Team before moving to the United States and playing collegiate soccer at Jacksonville (Fla.)'s University of North Florida. He last coached Deportivo Lake Mary (UPSL) in both the 2018 and '19 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifying rounds.

"The UPSL is a National League with promotion/relegation that we see has huge potential for future growth. We would like to establish our club as the top offering in Central Florida, surrounded and supported by a well-organized league that is moving quickly with matching philosophies," Enright said.

Devin Rice is Orlando Rovers FC's Training Manager. A native of Florida, Rice played in Netherlands with Ajax youth academy, and has coached at Orlando City SC Youth Academy, Merritt Island SC and IRSA Youth Academy.

Ivano Prolli is Team Ambassador for Orlando Rovers FC. The former owner of Azzurri Soccer Club, Prolli coached and played for the club when it won the Florida State Cup in 2003. Prolli also is a state licensed referee and coach, and in 2018 created TeamX Challenger to spar against the U.S. Men's National Under-20 and Under-23 teams.

The club will announce tryouts and its upcoming game schedule.

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 500-plus teams targeted for 2020 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
